Co-op Fund for Local Causes

We plan to use the funding to buy COVID-19 training resources and materials. This will help to educate our trainees in social distancing and safe hygiene measures.
If you would like to be a member of Co-op and receive many benefits. You can join here: http://coop.co.uk/membership
If you would like to support our cause, you can become a Co-op member and support us here: https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/49320

It’s now even easier for Co-op members to support their local community cause by downloading the Co-op app from the App Store or Google Play.

At a time when funds for community groups and charitable organisations are becoming more difficult to access, we’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity to make a real difference in Leith, Edinburgh.

We are delighted that All Together Edinburgh has been chosen to benefit from the Co-op Local Community Fund.

We are raising funds to pay for training materials in our charity shop/training centre. The Co-op local community fund will help us reach this goal.

The All Together charity shop focuses on providing training for people with learning disabilities, creating more opportunities for them to move onto other work. Trainees gain retail and work skills, confidence and an accredited qualification through a recognised training programme. They also receive support to move onto further employment.

Our ethos is to break down barriers to employment and change the way people with disabilities are perceived in society. By bringing everyone together for a common cause, we’re helping to build a more cohesive and understanding community

To help funds, we’ll be relying on Co-op members. When a member buys selected products or services from the Co-op they earn a five per cent reward for themselves, with a further one per cent for local causes like ours.

When a community comes together we’re able to achieve great things, so we hope you can help promote our project. For more information about us, please visit www.alltogetheredinburgh.org.uk or visit our charity shop/training centre, 87 Leith Walk, Edinburgh

Thank you

All Together Edinburgh, like many businesses  are finding it tough because of the effects of Covid-19 and the tram works in Leith Walk. However, we have also been incredibly fortunate because of the great deal of help and support we have had in these difficult times. I wanted to say thank you to these people/ organisations:

A huge thank you to everyone who became a co-op member and chose us as their local cause from November 2019 to October 2020. You helped us raise over  £1200!

Thank you to Co-op for choosing us as your local cause 2019/20 and 2020/21! This provides an opportunity to raise vital funds and promote our service. Thanks to Roan at Co-op, Mcdonald Road for donating goods for our Christmas hampers and Lara Celini, Co=op member pioneer,  for helping us to promote our cause.

Thank you to Scotmid for donating £200 worth of vouchers, to be used for gifts at our individual certificate presentations in December 2020.

We would also like to thank Zero Waste Scotland for providing £500 to help us to adapt our shop/training centre in Leith. This helped us to ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers, trainees and customers.

A thank you also goes to Out of the Blue, Leith for printing leaflets to help promote the need for donations to our charity shop. They did this free of charge because they wanted to help projects in the Leith community. This has helped us to increase the number of donations and provide quality goods at affordable prices to the local community.

Thank you to the people who have supported us for the last 10 years. We don’t always appreciate all the hard work and careful decisions that our trustees make so thank you Wendy, Michael, Bill and Arthur for your continued support.

Many other key people have supported us from day one -Noel Guy for promoting All Together at every opportunity, admin and work placements, for his work in the shop and for asking his friends to donate to All Together as a birthday gift! Thanks to Michael Stubbings, who spends many hours filling in funding application forms to help us to fund our service, event management and for his duties as a trustee and an adviser.

Thanks to James Duncan, who has helped us every year, setting up websites, fundraising opportunities and work placements. He is now helping us to set up online learning for some of our trainees. Thanks, also to Darren Howard who hosts our graduation every year. He is a true professional and a great supporter of All Together. All of these kind gentlemen have witnessed first-hand what these achievements mean to our trainees and their families.

Finally, thank you to the staff, the trainees and volunteers in the shop for your hard work and dedication. You are a great team to work with! A special thanks must go to Angie Chrystal who has supported us for the last 5 years, managing  the shop to give us a day off, helping us to increase donations and funds and for promoting us through Facebook.

There are many others who continue to support us, including our loyal customers and those who donate goods to our shop. There are many organisations who offer us advice, courses and networking opportunities to help us continue our work and prepare for the future challenges. Thank you to all of you. We couldn’t do it without you.

All Together Secures Funding from Co-op and Scotmid

We have done it again! We have been chosen to be part of the Co-op Local Community Fund for another year ( from November 2020 to October 2021). Thank you Co-op for this wonderful opportunity.

We plan to use the funding to buy COVID-19 training resources and materials. This will help to educate our trainees in social distancing and safe hygiene measures.

Thank you Scotmid!

Scotmid very generously awarded All Together Edinburgh £200 in Scotmid vouchers through their community grant funding programme. These vouchers will be used to buy gifts for our 2019/20 graduates at Christmas.

Unfortunately, we will not be holding our annual graduation this year but we hope to present certificates on an individual basis and still make the occasion really special. The trainees have worked so hard this year to achieve their awards and have had to contend with many changes due to Covid-19. These gifts will go a long way to making the occasion extra special.

Broomstick Challenge 2019

The All Together staff, trainees and volunteers took part in the broomstick cycling fundraiser on the 31st October and raised £100 in 4 hours!! They cycled for 30 minutes each whilst dressed in a Halloween costume. It was great fun.
Thank you so much to everyone who took part and thank you to the All Together customers who donated money for our much needed charity shop/training centre.

Graduation Ceremony 2019

All Together held their graduation ceremony at the White House in Craigmillar on June 2019. The graduates received their certificates and enjoyed a buffet and refreshments with staff, volunteers and the graduates families/supporters.

Special guests attended the graduation including the Green Part councillor Susan Rae and representatives from the Volunteer Centre and Edinburgh College. A big thank you to everyone who attended, especially Darren Howard, the talented MC.

Vintage and Vinyl Event

Due to popular demand, All Together decided to have a vintage and vinyl day in the shop. We teamed up with staff from RBS (South Gyle) who volunteered for the whole day on Tuesday 26th March.

The RBS team brought donations of vinyl and vintage clothing and bric-a-brac that they had sourced prior to the event. They worked together to process, value, price, merchandise, display and sell the items in the shop.

They created wonderful window and shelf displays, used their ideas, marketing/ & customer service skills to promote the event and attracted lots of customers. The event was a huge success and raised an extra £600 for the shop. It not only increased the sales of vintage and vinyl goods but also highlighted the need for donations of these goods to the shop.

We would like to thank the 7 staff from RBS for volunteering their time to the shop and making a difference.

Broomstick Challenge

Broomstick Challenge

Well done to the All Together Team who took part in the Broomstick Challenge on 31st October 2018. The team cycled enough miles to reach Drumchapel in Glasgow and raised £150.

A special thank you to Imogen who raised an extra £22 from a fundraiser with friends.

Shop Refurbishment

Hooray!! The All Together Edinburgh Shop/Training Centre has now been refurbished. It now has a new wooden floor and LED lighting, new shop fittings and been freshly painted/decorated..It is much brighter, fresher, modern, spacious and has a splash of colour. The feedback from staff, volunteers, trainees and customers has been fantastic.

We would like to thank all the volunteers who helped to empty the shop before the shopfitters went in, who painted the shop, put the shop fittings in place, who transported stock and stocked/merchandised the shop ready in time for the grand opening. The shop made over £1000 the first day.

Funding was secured through the Leith Chooses event, Baily Thomas Charitable Fund and the Barlerno/Currie Round Table. Our landlord also kindly contributed to the costs. We would like to thank you all so much as the shop has a new lease of life and a joy to work in.

We would also like to give a special thank you to all the people who voted for All Together in the Leith Chooses Event. We could not have made these improvements without you. You have continued to support us since we re-opened and love the new, modern look.
